The Arsenal manager refused to shake the hand of Latics boss Roberto Martinez and would not offer any credit towards the Wigan team for the performance offered.
Wenger's reaction showed a true disparity in the class of the two sides, and in particular the two managers with Roberto Martinez as humble in victory as Wenger was a sore loser.
Speaking about his sides defeat, Wenger said: "It's a shame, it's a defeat that is very difficult to swallow because we have done so well in the last two months. Everybody is deeply disappointed.
"I wouldn't put it down to complacency, I just think the way we defended the first two goals was not acceptable. I was still confident at 2-1 especially but unfortunately in the second half we did not have a lot to offer.
"We have given a lot recently and we were not sharp. We played with Walcott, Chamberlain, Van Persie, Gervinho and Rosicky so you couldn't put more strikers on the pitch."
Wenger's reaction was topped by that of striker Robin van Persie. The Gunners striker was marshalled out the game by Wigan defender Gary Caldwell, but van Persie refused to shake the hand of Caldwell at the final whistle.
The Arsenal striker has faced plenty of stick over the internet for his lack of class and grace in defeat and further illustrates just why Arsenal are not challenging for any trophies.
