Blackpool were defeated 1-0 thanks to Oriol Reira's first half goal for the Latics.
Keen for his side to progress and earn a first win of the season Jose Riga is looking to build on the positives from the game.
Speaking to the Blackpool Official website he said: "We need other things in our game, individually and collectively, to compete in a better way and to get results. In terms of results, we are close so we have to build on it.
"The next game is in one week so that makes me already happy because I have one week to prepare. I will be more happy with the international break because this period can allow me to make a complete assessment of what will be my team.
"Wigan had more opportunities than us but even in the first-half we had two or three, but we must be more effective and realistic. We were looking for a result here and the mentality was present because we tried to the end. I cannot complain about the will and the reaction in the second-half.
"We had a big opportunity, the best one was Nile but we know also that in our situation nothing is easy, even scoring goals with this kind of opportunity.
"What I appreciate the most is the commitment of the players and the way that they won't accept the situation. The reaction was nice."
