Peters was pleased with his sides performance in stiffling the Latics attacking play and also showing their own talent through some good football.
“I think we showed some good stuff in the first half,” said the Belgian. “We scored a good goal with a good passing game.
“Our analysts told us that McManaman was their key player and everything they warned about happened. I think that was their only chance and then we lost it for 15 minutes. We didn’t give anything away but we stopped playing football.
“At half time I said that when we play football we create chances,.I said if we start moving the ball again they are going to get tired and you saw in the last 15 minutes they were struggling as they had to run. We know that in the Championship a lot of goals are scored in the last 10 minutes.
“We had two or three chances which we didn’t put away. Last week we conceded from a deflected goal and now we scored from a goal which was deflected so I am very happy.”
Speaking about the altercation he had with Latics boss Uwe Rosler after the full time whistle Peters added: “With the second goal I was emotional and I just went celebrating.
“He [Rosler] said to me I was going to his corner and he said some, not very nice, things to me and he pushed me away.
“I lost my composure a bit, but I know it is not easy and it is emotional when you lose a game in the 94th minute from a deflected goal. For me, it is all over and we will have a beer later on and forget about.”
