The Ivorian striker caused no end of problems to the Everton defence at the weekend as he both scored and set up up Franco Di Santo in the 2-2 draw.
Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post about the striker, Caldwell said: “Arouna’s come in, he’s been a great addition to the team and his performances have been excellent so far.“He gives us a real presence up front, and we have lacked that in years gone by. He really gives us that.
“When you get the ball to him, he causes defenders a lot of problems.
“He’s quiet in the dressing room, but I think more and more he will come out of his shell as the season goes on.”
The Latics are next in action against Swansea City in a fortnights time with the international break this weekend.
