There were big questions over the starting line up with the club's three best players left on the bench.
The performance was even worse as the Latics were comprehensively defeated 2-0 by the Spaniard's former club.
Speaking to the club's official website, Martinez said: "There's a really disappointing feeling that we couldn't replicate the kind of performance that we've seen in the last three games.
"In many ways we couldn't cope with the demands of the game today and although we can't use it as an excuse it wasn't ideal to have so many players travel around the world in the week on international duty as we prepared for a game that had a real need for three points.
"Swansea took advantage of that and scored two goals in key moments with a clinical touch.
"But, from our point-of-view we weren't anywhere near good enough or close to what we're capable of producing.
Martinez has now been called into a meeting with Latics chairman Dave Whelan who also publically questioned his managers decision to leave Rodallega, Diame, and Moses on the bench.
