The 27 year old Argentinian has had a difficult time with the Latics since joining from Estudiantes over two years ago which much of his time spent on loan away from the club.
However the Latics have evolved to play a much more fluid style of football that is likely to suit Boselli much more and this is exciting manager Roberto Martinez.
Speaking after seeing his side convincingly beat Nottingham Forest 4-1 at the City Ground, the Spaniard said: "We are very, very exited about Mauro.
"Mauro had a difficult period in the previous two seasons but mentally he's come back really refreshed and I think his experience in Argentina has helped him to be desperate to come to Wigan Athletic and be successful.
"What we saw [against Forest] he's been doing in pre-season. He's been scoring in every game he's played. His movement in the box is of someone very special in front of goal."
Martinez is also excited by the strength and depth of his present squad given that he was able to make seven changes from the team that beat Southampton at the weekend.
"That's great when you've got football making that decision [about the starting team]," he added.
"What I want is to have as many players wanting to play and showing that they're ready to play.
"It's a long competition, very demanding, and I'm really excited when I see the players with very high standards and desperate to play."
The Latics are scheduled to face Stoke this weekend at the DW Stadium as the team returns to Premier League action.
