El-Hadji Diouf: The Spitter
The game will see the re-match of Arjan De Zeeuw and El-Hadji Diouf. They have already met once after the well publicised spitting incident but there is likely to be no love loss between the two.

With regard to the incident, Paul Jewell said: "He [De Zeeuw] should probably wear a mask this time. It is not very nice, but fortunately, it does not happen very much in football. Arjan behaved impeccably on the day, I don't think there are many other players that would have taken that in the way he did. He is a thorough professional, and I don't foresee any problems at all.

"As far as we are concerned, the whole episode is forgotten about, and I'm sure he [Diouf] regrets what he did."

While Bolton boss Allardyce said: "What happened against Portsmouth last season was the low point of Diouf's career. I hope we don't see a repeat of that. But he is being reasonably good at the moment. Maybe that's because he's not on loan any more and feels more settled."

De Zeeuw himself is keen to put the incident behind him. He told the wigan

Arjan De Zeeuw: Happy to put the incident in the past
Evening Post: "I've played against Diouf since the spitting incident when Bolton played at Portsmouth near the end of last season, and that was a very odd experience.

"It's safe to say we won't exchange birthday cards, but what happened is gone now and it's time to move on.

"Diouf had a lot of bad Press over it, I'm sure he got a lot of stick from his own manager Sam Allardyce, and people won't forget about it easily.

"I didn't shake him by the hand last time and I'll have to think what to do about that this time.

"People must have a chance to improve themselves and learn from their mistakes, that applies to everyone.

"I think I surprised myself about how calm I kept at the time, but as I've said, it's in the past now and I'm just approaching Sunday as a game of football.

"Diouf is a good player and we have to be careful with him as he scores goals and sets up chances for other players.

"I will be looking at him like that, not because of the spitting thing."

Wigan Team News

Latics boss Paul Jewell looks to have a full squad to pick from, meaning he is likely to go with the same team that beat Everton.

Mike Pollitt is unlikely to recieve a recall despite Filan's dodgy performance at Goodison.

Paul Jewell: A Full squad to choose from, but no recall for Pollit?
Jewell told the club's official website: "I think everyone is fit, Pollitt felt some pain in his achilles yesterday but I think he will be OK, so it looks like we've got a full complement."

"We know Bolton's strengths, they've done fantastically well, and we know we have to compete. If we want to win, we have to compete in the battle, and if you don't compete against Bolton, then they will blow you away. We've got to make sure we're competitive."

"It's a good derby, so it'll be a good atmosphere, and as well as competing we've got to make sure we play as well. We have to stop them but we've got to be able to express ourselves. I thought we did that against Everton in the second half, but we did not do that particularly well in the first half, but we grew in confidence in the second half."

"We haven't scored a million goals but that is not for the lack of trying. We've tried to attack teams in a sensible way, and in an organised manner. We look solid at the back, and we just need to continue that because to win a game you obviously need to score a goal, but we don't need to concede any."

"You have to be disciplined because if you lose your discipline and lose your shape, we're playing against better players, so they'll take advantage."
