The result leaves the Latics with just one point and three goals from their opening three fixtures a fact that leaves Rosler under no illusions.
Speaking about the game to the club's official website the Latics boss said: “I don’t think there will be many teams come here and dominate the game as we did tonight.
“We’re seeing a positive change in pattern; against Reading we started well and fell away in the second half, against Charlton we started well in the first half, and today we dominated for almost 90 minutes.
“Apart from that our only problem is getting the ball into the net. Up front was the problem for us, but we win together and we lose together, nobody will be blamed. I think my reflection of the game is a fair one.
“We caused Cardiff problems in transition and in the first half we got three against three in the final third, but the quality was not there."
Rosler is still hopeful of making additions before the close of the transfer window but has admitted that his hands are tied by the current budget.
Next up for the Latics is the visit of Blackpool on Saturday in a must win game to get the season started.
