Everton Preview: Jewell wants three points

David Connolly: Plenty of competition upfront

The Latics have no injury worries ahead of the game with Gary Teale, John Filan and Emerson Thome all comnig through the midweek game with Bournemouth.

The big dilemma for Paul Jewell is who to play upfront. Henri Camara scored as a substitute last weekend in the 1-1 draw with Boro, whilst Roberts netted a goal midweek. However you cannot rule out David Connolly who has put in two good performances and scored a great goal on his debut against West Brom.

Maybe Jewell will buck the defensive trend of the Premiership once more and go with three up front.

Whatever system the Latics opt for, the manager wants to bring three points home with him.

Jewell told the club's official website: "We've got a clean bill of health, we've got a full squad to pick from. It makes a pleasant change, and its all systems go to play Everton."

"They're a very good team, a great club. We'll go there as underdogs but we'll be looking to win there. It's my home town, and some people in my family are Everton supporters so they'll be there but at the end of the day it's only a game of football.

"I was a Liverpool supporter but Everton are one of the countries' major clubs and I've got nothing but admiration for them."

"The people of Liverpool are very knowledgeable about their football, and I think the Everton fans themselves probably acknowledge that last year was an unbelievably great season for them, and I'm sure they will get it right this season.

"They haven't started well, there's no doubt about that, but you don't get to the Champions League if you're not a good side. I'm sure come the business end of the season, they'll be up there."

Ryan Taylor has also given an interview to the club's official website and he is hoping to be involved in Saturday's game.

He said: "I don't see why we cannot go there full of confidence and pick three points up. With the way they've been going and they way we have been playing, it's looking good for us."

"I'm a Reds fan too, so I'll be looking to do one over them I just hope to be involved in some way or another. I want to go there and beat them."

"Bainsey is an Everton fan, and it's weird for the two of us because our some of our families support Everton, and some others follow Liverpool, it's a bit mix and match really. Someone will tell me not to score but I don't want to listen to that, I just want to go and get three points."
