In a refreshing media tone the Omani goalkeeper was quick to distance himself from the rumours citing his enjoyment and progress with the Latics as main reasons to remain with the club.
The goalkeeper has generated a great relationship with the Latics support who have firmly installed Al-Habsi as a firm favourite.
Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post about the rumours al-Habsi said: “I have said it many times before but I love this football club, I love the fans and I hope to give them much more.
“I heard about what was said at the weekend, but that kind of thing is not of any importance to me. I am very, very happy at Wigan – as has been the case since I first came here.
“I am doing well, my form is coming on with every game I play, and my confidence is very high. All I want to do is concentrate on my job here and to help the team, because there is lots of work to be done.”
With Liverpool struggling in the league and a dwindling reputation in world football the move to Merseyside is not as big as it once was.
A firm favourite with fans a first choice place in the Latics first team Al Habsi would be better served waiting for one of the present day big clubs to come knocking if he has hopes of trophy success.
