Boulogne closing in on Kapo

Despite plying his trade for such reputable clubs as Juventus and Birmingham City, Olivier Kapo has struggled to make an impact at the DW Stadium.

He cost the Latics £3.5 million from Birmingham City and has eighteen months left on his present deal. Unlike Jason Koumas, the Frenchman is not happy to just pick his wages up each week and wants first team football, Boulogne can guarantee that.

Speaking to Voix des Sports, Boulogne sporting director, Frederic Dupuis said: "It is on the record since the start of the December that we have wanted Kapo. And it is probably our perseverance that had pleased Kapo.

"To us this is a big deal, it will or will not happen in the next 48 hours. The player is currently in Paris, so we will see. It is not done, but I am optimistic."

Should Kapo depart, this would free up further space on the Wigan Athletic payroll following Won Hee Cho's transfer back to South Korea. Such departures suggest that Martinez is expecting a few additions this month.
