Boyce targets top six charge

The 34 year old has once again played an integral part of the Latics team this season and the former Crysta Palace player is targeting a return to the top flight.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post Boyce said: "We need to go on a long run now of victories. Not scoring has been our problem for most of the games.

"We are so dominant but can't kill trams off and they just break awa, have one or two chances and next thing you know it's in the back of our net.

"We've got to learn to take our chanes and grind out results. Hopefully it won't cost us towards the end of the season but we can't keep slipping points."

The Latics have already played 65 odd minutes of the original re-arranged fixture against Sheffield Wednesday before torrential rain deemed the pitch unplayable.

A James McClean goal had put the Latics in front on that night and Uwe Rosler will be hoping for another winning performance tonight.

And Boyce is hoping the cancelled fixture will play to Wigan's advantage. "They will know that the last tiem we played against them we did really well," added Boyce. "We more than deserved to win the game, it was just unfortunate it got called off.

"We have to go back there now when they have a new style of lay and they;ve gone on a good run so it'll an even harder test."
