The 21 year old Argnentinian striker found first team oportunities hard to come by at Stamford Bridge and he is hoping his move to the Latics will allow him to prove just what he can do.
Di Santo spent much of last season on loan with Blackburn Rovers and after joining the Latics on a permanent basis, he is hoping to impress.
The 6 foot 3 inches striker told the club's official website: "Mauro is one of the best players in Argentina at the moment, and so I would love to play with him and learn from all of his experience.
"Having so many Spanish speakers at the club has really helped me to settle in and feel at home very quickly. "I am now very keen to get my first start for Wigan Athletic and I will be ready on Saturday if the manager decides to play me."
