Despite growing frustrated with Diop's injuried plagued season, Coleman was delighted that the midfielder chose to stay for his place, rather than move onto pastures new.
Coleman said: "Four months ago he was one of the first names on the sheet but he's been injured and has lacked consistency since he came back from the African Nations Cup.
"I've told him we've got new players in and to get back in the team and stay there he'll have to be at his best."
Despite this setback, Jewell is hoping to tie up a few more deals prior to Wednesday's deadline.
