Central midfielder Don Cowie and centre forward Grant Holt have both left Wigan Athletic today, after their contracts were terminated by mutual consent.
Cowie, 32, joined the Latics from Cardiff City for free back in 2014, but he has recently been the subject of interest from Scottish Premier League club Aberdeen.
New signing Sam Morsy has taken the number 8 shirt that Cowie had vacated with his departure, despite the ex-Chesterfield man being announced as number 50 when he was confirmed as a Wigan player last night.
On the other hand, Holt, 34, joined the club from Norwich City for an undisclosed fee back in 2013.
However, his career at the Tics was somewhat stagnated. The Carlisle-born forward was loaned out on three separate occasions to Aston Villa, Huddersfield Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wigan boss Gary Caldwell has wished the pairing good luck in their future endeavours via the official club website.
