The 28 year old had been linked with a move away from the club in the summer with homesickness being cited as the reason for a proposed move.
With first team opportunities frustratingly in short supply uner both Uwe Rosler and now manager Malky Mackay it appears that Espinoza is ready to move on.
Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post the midfielder said: “I’ll speak to the club again but the decision could even be made before the game. It’s been a great two years here, but I took the decision not too long ago.
“You could see it kind of coming, it’s time for me to look somewhere else. There’s been a lot of changes going on with the team and managers, and obviously that’s been tough both for me and some other players.
“I decided it was time, I spoke to some of the directors here, they all did their best to help me and I thank them for that.”
Espinoza is a firm fans' favourite and his 'heart on your sleave' style has endured him to the loyal Latics faithful.
There are many likely suitors for the Honduran but his expected destination is former club Sporting Kansas City to be closer to his family.
