"We have got Maynor until the end of the season. It's difficult for a player from Honduras to make an impact in a short trial, but he has done very well and has been desperate to earn a contract," said Bruce.
Meanwhile there was further news on regarding the ongoing transfer deal involving former Tottenham left back Erik Edman. Currently plying his trade in France for Rennes, the Swedish international left back is expected to join the Latics in a deal worth around £500,000.
Out of contract in the summer, Rennes are happy to let Edman go for a reduced fee. Such a move would allow Bruce to push Kevin Kilbane further up the left hand side.
Bruce added: "Kevin has got better and better in the left-back role - I thought at Derby last week he had his best game for me. If we do get a left-back in, we now have that wonderful option of pushing him up the pitch on the left-wing."
And finally, Bruce has been open with supporters and confirmed that the club have turned down a £3 million bid from struggling Fulham for defender-cum-midfielder, Paul Scharner.
The Austrian international has been a big reason for the improved performance of the Wigan Athletic defence over recent weeks and Bruce - who tried to sign Scharner for Birmingham - would want a big fee for the fans favourite.
"We have had an offer from Fulham for Paul but it has been turned down. Paul hasn't said he wants to go and I don't want to lose him. I don't know if Fulham will come back in with a higher offer but it will take a lot more money to get him," said Bruce.
