Pep Guardiola
Guardiola who has 43 caps for Spain would add plenty of experience to the Latics midfield, and at the age of 34, he could well have plenty of life left in his legs.

He spent most of his career at Barcelona, spending more than eleven years at the Camp Nou and has recently been playing in the Quatari league for Al Ahly after leaving Bresica and Roma in Italy.

Paul Jewell is keen to add the skillful midfielder to his already talented squad. He told the Daily Star: "I have spoken to Pep and I was very impressed that he knew so much about us. His experience would be a help to us."

Just two weeks ago and Guardiola turned down the opportunity of a move to near neighbours Manchester City. The Laser Blues only offered him a six month deal and he was looking for a longer deal.

City boss Stuart Pearce said: "I wanted to take a good look at him and that's why we offered him a six-month deal. I understand why the player has decided to look for a longer deal and he leaves with our best wishes."
