Despite being quoted as unhappy with his initial salary, Haestad is more than happy with what he has seen so far of the club. He said: "I have been watching the Premiership since I was a little kid. It's big for me to come down here and finally get the chance to play.
"Wigan were the first club that gave me the opportunity and they were the first club after me, so I didn't really have to think that much about it.
"I'm satisfied with my choice and I look forward to playing for Wigan for the next six months. I got a call from him (Pedersen) as I was sitting at The JJB Stadium and just about to sign the contract.
"He said 'don't sign, don't sign', but I'm happy with my choice and he thinks it's fun I'm getting the opportunity to play in the Premiership."
Haestad is expected to make his debut in Saturday's FA Cup third round trip to Portsmouth.
