Holt has never earned favour with the demanding Uwe Rosler and after the evidence of early pre-season it would appear that Holt's future with the club is limited.
He has been left at home by the club to work on his fitness as the rest of the squad jet off to Germany for pre-season fixtures and training.
The move is a clear illustration from Rosler that Holt does not feature in his plans and the former Norwich City striker is said to be interesting West Ham United at a valuation of £750k.
