Hull look to add experience in Kilbane

Hull City boss Phil Brown has admitted that he is interested in Kevin Kilbane but thinks that the price for the winger could be a stumbling block in capturing his signature.

Kilbane is out of contract at the end of the season and is rated at £1m by Wigan but Brown thinks that Killer's age and contract situation should lower the valuation of the Irishman.

Hull have been looking for fringe Wigan players ever since Caleb Folan moved for £1m in 2007 with Marlon King now also in the Hull ranks. Ryan Taylor has been linked with a move to the KC Stadium in the past but he should stay at the club with Steve Bruce a keen admirer of the former Tranmere star.

"I am interested in Kevin. He has been a great part of Wigan's success story and played Premier League football for a number of years.' said Brown on his interest in Kilbane.

"He can play left-back, left-hand side of midfield or left wing, but the figures that are being bandied around are too expensive, in my opinion, for a lad at the age he is at."

With the Wigan squad already quite low on numbers compared to other clubs in the Premier League, the transfer window will be an important month to bring in replacements should anyone leave the JJB Stadium.
