Lee McCulloch: Back in the Scotland Squad
Paul Jewell told the club's official website: "Having so many internationals is a double edged sword. On the one hand it disrupts preparations because we won't have them back until the Thursday before the Newcastle game. But on the other it's a tremendous accolade for Latics to have so many players representing their country.

"It's a great honour for the club and town and I know it's something the players strive for. I remember seeing Lee McCulloch's face when he was called up for Scotland for the first time. Same for Ryan Taylor and Leighton Baines, they are so proud when the call comes.

"It charts the progress that Wigan Athletic have made that these days so many of our players are representing their country and I want it to continue. I suppose a small part of me wants to keep them in cotton wool at the training ground and not let them jet off to the middle of nowhere to play.

"We lost Henri Camara for a few weeks earlier this season when we pulled his hamstring playing for Senegal. When they go off I always wish each of them well and tell them to come back in one piece."
