Jewell - Nobody will be leaving

Jewell said: "I have had approaches about a couple of my players but we've rejected all offers for the time being. We don't have the biggest of squads here to begin with and every player has a big part to play.

"Just because a player isn't in the team at the moment doesn't mean that we don't need them. Injuries will happen and there will be times that I want to make changes, so it's crucial that we have options readily available to us.

"From the players point of view I can understand why the offer of first team football is attractive but no one is unsettled here and no one is looking to leave.

"One of the big secrets of our success over the past four years has been the togetherness shown by the players, including the ones out of the team.

"Ian Breckin showed amazing professionalism in his first season here when he had to watch more or less the entire season from the sidelines because Jason De Vos and Matt Jackson did so well in getting us promoted.

"Likewise, players like Gary Walsh have been invaluable for their contribution and attitude despite very rarely playing a first team game since being here.

"Team spirit at Wigan Athletic is first class and the atmosphere in the squad is as good as I've ever known it. The lads currently not in the team have told me they want to stay and fight for a place and be part of the adventure we are enjoying.

"If they continue to show the same resolve and commitment they are doing at the moment I'm sure their chance will come at some stage."
