The Latics boss said: "I'm very pleased of course. It shows that we're doing well, and I hope we can get some more because then it means we will have built on our good start.
"I never won it at Bradford, we didn't win three games in a row, so this is special. It might say my name on the trophy but really this award is down to the to the players and to the coaching staff.
"I am delighted, don't get me wrong, but, and it's a big but, we must not get carried away. If we lose against Newcastle, none of what's gone before will matter.
"There is still a long, long way to go this season, and if you lose your focus during games, you will be punished at this level, we found that out at Charlton. Awards are very nice, but I don't think it'll make a blind bit of difference to the way we approach the game. The only award I really want on Saturday is the three points."
"Ultimately, I'm pleased for the supporters, because the award is a boost for them. They have been magnificent this season, and the atmosphere in games has been a factor in our success, no doubt about that. That's who the award should be dedicated to."
