The Columbian international forward is out of contract in the summer and the Latics run the risk of Rodallega leaving on a bosman style free transfer.
With no contract talks on-going, and the striker offering no sign of a long term commitment to the Latics, it would appear it is a case of when, and not if, Rodallega leaves the club.
Speaking about a potential January move, Martinez said: "We are going to leave the contract talks for now. In our position we haven't got the money other clubs have got to go out and spend but we don't have to sell if we don't feel it is right for the club.
"It's more important for us to keep Hugo playing for us until the end of the season than try to cash in."
Rodallega is expected to be in the starting line up to face Manchester City at the DW Stadium this evening.
