Pascal: Winner against Fulham
Chimbonda told Sky Sports: "The English are mad but I love them for that. I am taking English lessons and now I can even understand the coach.

"I have bought a flat here and settled in well, but I hate English food and I cannot stand the pies even though Wigan is famous for them."

"I love the fans and like the song they sing - I think they are mad!"

And whilst questioned over his goalscoring and the header against Fulham Chimbonda added: "I don't score many but I managed three in one season at Bastia. We know we were slightly fortunate to win.

"I felt Diop slide when he ran in to challenge me so I rolled him with his arm, dived, and got great connection. Was it a foul? No, of course not."

Boss Paul Jewell is also delighted with the right back, he said: "Sometimes he takes a bit to get going, it is a bit cold for him. He was still pumping his hands to get warm when he got back into the dressing room. But he has been a tremendous signing for us and you can see what the fans think of him. He is a big favourite.

"He has his English lessons once or twice a week and he is picking it up. The thing is, the lads who claim they can't speak English never seem to come in, but when I say, 'It's a day off tomorrow' they understand that perfectly."
