'Boro took the lead after the half hour through Nemeth. He produced a lovely chip over Latics goalkeeper Gary Walsh. Adam Johnson netted the winner just five minutes from time. He fired home from ten yards.

Ryan Taylor had the best chance for the Latics but his effort flew over the bar. Andreas Johansson and Josip Skoko saw their efforts saved.
