Roberts - We have a potent front line

The Grenadan international striker has been an ever-present so far this season and was forced to lead the line by himself in the games with Charlton and Sunderland.

The Latics have now added David Connolly to the squad and Roberts feels the Irish internationals addition is vital.

Roberts told the club's official website: "We now have some really potent options up front and it can only improve us as players and as a squad. Henri Camara impressed me straight away, as I think he did all our fans, so to lose him was a blow. But he's back in full training again and looking hot.

"David Connolly was magnificent against West Brom and I feel me and him hit it off straight away. We are different types of players with different qualities and that's what usually makes for a great partnership.

"Lets not forget either that Andreas Johansson and Lee McCulloch can play in a forward attacking role, so the Gaffer (Paul Jewell) has some good options to select from.

"The best aspect of having a number of us pushing for the starting jersey is that it keeps up all on our toes. I know that if I fall below par then there is someone snapping at my heels ready to take my place. That's how it should be and it makes you a sharper, better player. David and Henri feel the same and it means that all of us fighting to get the nod to play up front will have to produce the goods for Wigan Athletic."
