Following the opening day draw with Reading the Latics have suffered defeats to both Charlton Athletic and Cardiff City.
With struggling Blackpool the opponents at the weekend the pressure is on hte team to get the right result and kick start the season.
Manager Uwe Rosler is optimistic despite the sides poor run of results. Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post he said: “I see a big improvement in the way we are playing. We can’t lose confidence and belief, because the players know they are getting better and the squad is coming together.
“For example Andrew Taylor only played 90 minutes twice last season, and you see him getting stronger with each game.
“Ivan Ramis is getting stronger, Cardiff was probably his best game coming through the full 90 minutes.
“The three in midfield did tremendous, they really dominated the Cardiff midfield, they gave them massive problems.
“We got in to so many good positions on Tuesday – and in all three league games – but everybody knows we need to do something in the area of creating chances.
“We have players who are very good up front, but we need to bring in a bit more pace, a bit more directness and a bit more Championship experience to help us.”
At the moment the news is quiet on the transfer front with interest in Leicester City's Chris Woods and Brentford's Adam Forshaw going cold.
