"I've also only just come in, which led to me missing the first couple of weeks, so I will have to be patient and take it step by step. But I'm confident in my own ability - I will make the breakthrough. I wouldn't be here if I didn't think I could play.
"There's a great atmosphere within the squad at the moment. It's the same for the first team and the second team. As long as we are winning and getting good results, then that ensures we keep moving forward.
"To be honest, I've not been too surprised at how well we've done. We've just worked hard and got the results. We didn't know how we would do coming into the Premiership, but with every week we get a result the belief becomes stronger and stronger. We have grown in the last few weeks.

It is expected that Paul Jewell will make a number of changes for the Latics tonight. He told the club's official website: "It's unrealistic to expect the lads who played on Sunday to feature again just 48 hours later, so there will be changes. "I've told every single player at this club that they will have a role to play during this campaign and it's crucial when there chance comes along that they grasp it with both hands.
"At the moment the lads with the shirts and playing well and doing the business. But injuries, suspensions and loss of form will happen between now and May and it's vital that the players on the fringes are keyed up and ready to step up."
