He joined from Leicester for a fee of £2 million, signing a three year deal.
Paul Jewell is happy with his summer shopping and is glad he can now concentrate on the football and keeping Wigan Athletic in the Premiership.
He said: "We tried every avenue possible to bring new faces to Wigan, but in the end the clock beat us. To be honest I'm pretty happy with the squad I've got now and in particular the signings I've made since getting promoted in May.
"Let's not forget we've managed to attract 8 new players here in total and that's a healthy number. In fact, I'm not sure how many clubs in this league have been as pro-active in the transfer market compared with us.
"I can't lie to you; I'm pretty relieved the transfer window is shut now. It means we can all get on with concentrating on what really matters, football.
"The squad of players I have is top drawer and they are more than good enough not just to survive at this level but to compete as well. We are a very young football club in the grand scheme of things and in terms of the Premiership we are positively infants.
"It was never going to be the case that established stars would be beating down our door, but already I'm sensing that opinions on Wigan Athletic are changing with the exposure we are getting.
"Come the January window, when we'll have played even more games at this level, I'm confident those perceptions will be even better.
"I don't like clichés but sometimes they do tell the story and I can't think of a more pertinent description than 'Rome wasn't built in a day'. The same applies to us and our recruitment.
"The signing of David Connolly answers the main area of concern, getting another striker in. It now means we have Roberts, Camara, Connolly, McCulloch and Johansson who can play in an attacking forward role."
Wiganer.net would like to thank Paul Jewell for his hard work throughout the summer in the transfer market. It is clear to see from the calibre of the players that have arrived, Mr Jewell has done a very good job and we are well equipped for survival.
