The club have been working hard gritting the walk-ways and areas surrounding the stadium and have had the undersoil heating on non-stop in a bid to avoid the big freeze.
With many local schools and businesses closed, the Latics are determined not to fall victim and have confirmed, that subject to any serious adverse weather, the game on Saturday will go ahead.
A statement on the club's official website read: "As of today (Wednesday 6th January), the Club fully expect the game with Aston Villa on Saturday 9th January to go ahead as scheduled.
Taking short and long term forecasts into consideration, the Club are doing everything in their power to ensure that the Stadium and immediate surroundings are accessible, and are confident that the Stadium will be ready in time for the Saturday.
If conditions were to deteriorate and the weather were to threaten the fixture, details will be posted on this website immediately and an email will be sent to everyone on the Wigan Athletic database.
If you are not on the Wigan Athletic database and would like to receive any such emails, and go into the draw for monthly prizes, please visit www.wiganathletic.com/details."
The game is scheduled to kick off at 3.00pm at the DW Stadium on Saturday. Supporters are advised to set off earlier than usual given the difficult travelling conditions.
