A poor first half display saw Latics fall 2-0 behind, and despite a Lee McCulloch goal and a much improved show after the interval, they couldn't claw back a draw.
Jewell is pleased his side are straight back into action at Field Mill tomorrow rather than dwelling on the end of the run all week.
He said: "People were getting a bit silly in thinking we would get through the rest of the season without being beaten again.
"No doubt some people will be saying there is a crisis at Wigan now that we have lost.
"The Mansfield game is a massive one for us and I'm glad we have got a game to play so soon after the defeat.
"I have told the lads to look forward to that one rather than dwell on what happened at Swindon."
The manager admitted his side had played second fiddle to their hosts in the first half and apparently pulled no punches in his half-time team talk.
And he was equally unhappy with the performance of referee Mike Jones, describing it as "rubbish."
The official from Chester turned down a Latics penalty appeal in the 89th minute after defender Matt Heywood blocked a cross with his arm.
Jewell fumed: "The referee was rubbish, absolute rubbish, booking four players when there weren't really any bad tackles.
"With the penalty appeal, he said their lad handled it but it wasn't intentional.
"From my seat, I thought the kid was going to autograph the ball!
"But let's get it right, the referee didn't cost us the game, our performance in the first half wasn't good enough.
"I'm disappointed with the way we went about things in the first half when it was a flat game.
"We are trying to get promotion but it didn't look that way at times.
"Swindon are a good side at home to be fair to them and they were better than us in the first half.
"I had to gee them up at half-time because I wasn't very happy and I let them know that.
"The second half was a big improvement, a 45-minute siege, and I definitely felt we should have got a point out of the game.
"While we're all disappointed to have lost, I have to applaud the players for the 20-odd match unbeaten run and hopefully we can now go on another good run."
McCulloch's goal was his first since September 7 and Jewell gave a pat on the back to the Scottish winger.
Jewell said: "I was pleased to see him score because it's been quite a while since he did.
"It's a pity he misses out this Saturday against Cheltenham through suspension."
Despite the defeat, Latics can still boast a nine-point lead at the top of the table over Crewe who won 3-1 at Oldham.
