Paper Talk: Henri ready for lone role

The club's record signing sat out the Carling Cup win over Watford to make sure he didn't join Jason Roberts and David Connolly in the treatment room.

Barring a last-minute recovery by those two, Camara will play a lone striking role against the Cottagers.

And manager Paul Jewell must then decide who to play in 'the hole' to link up the midfield with the attack.

The most likely option is Jimmy Bullard, the livewire midfielder having filled that role for a couple of games earlier in the season and again in the latter stages of last week's win at Aston Villa.

That would open the door for a return to the right-side of midfield for Ryan Taylor who impressed against Watford.

Jewell admitted Roberts and Connolly were doubtful, with Roberts revealing he had damaged his thigh during the second half at Villa.

He said: "I have torn a muscle in the top of my thigh, in the hip flexor.

"I don't know how long I'll be out for yet but that's not the most frustrating thing, it's more annoying that I was in the groove, we're winning and I hate missing games."

Roberts has been an ever-present in the Premiership so far, scoring twice, while he also found the net in the second round of the Carling Cup against Bournemouth.

In fact, his last absence from the first team for a league game was last
December's visit to Burnley due to suspension.

Latics have found themselves down to one striker twice before this season, Roberts ploughing a lone furrow at Charlton and in the home win over Sunderland.

If Jewell has to reshuffle on Saturday, the return of Taylor to the side would be a fitting reward for an impressive display against Watford.

As well as breaking the deadlock from the penalty spot, the £750,000 summer signing from Tranmere caught the eye in a wide midfield role as well as switching up front for a couple of spells.

Taylor was happy with his performance and admitted he was loving life at Latics.

He said: "I couldn't have wished for a better start here – to be fourth in the
Premiership at this stage is a dream come true.

"In our eyes we are a good team and we have a great set of lads here who work hard in training and matches.

"We've been picking up some great results even though other people haven't fancied us to do well.

"Fulham on Saturday is another tough one for us, they got a great result against Liverpool last week and will be full of confidence from it."Latics officials have been pleased with the way ticket sales have been going for Fulham's visit, in particular in the East Stand where only 600 seats remain unsold.

Season ticket holders and fans who attended the Newcastle game can claim cut-price tickets on Saturday.

On production of a voucher from the Newcastle clash, adults will be charged £10 with children's tickets just £1 if accompanied by an adult.

And admission for women on 'Ladies Day' is £5 (again on production of the Newcastle voucher), potentially meaning admission for a family of four is just £17.

Fulham are expecting only around 500 of their supporters to make the trip for the 12.45pm kick-off.
