The 2-0 victory at Elland Road was their fifth in a row and carried them six points clear at the top of the Championship.
They have not been beaten in 16 league games this season and Jewell is expected to pick up October's Manager of the Month award this week.
But three points in the Potteries is for now the only thing on his mind after a job well done against Leeds.
Goals from Alan Mahon and Jimmy Bullard in the opening seven minutes of the second half gave them victory.
Jewell said: "It was good to beat Leeds. I thought we put in a solid, hard-working team performance and deserved the three points.
"We were much better for the whole match than Leeds but were a little bit too anxious in the first half.
"At half-time, I told the lads to put an extra pass into our play, and after that they were putting in an extra 10!
"But all in all, we kept them at bay and to win comfortably is a testament to the team.
"There is never a bad time to score, but getting one seconds after half-time certainly gave us more confidence to push on.
"It was a great strike from Mahon which we know he has in his locker, and for the second Jason Roberts held play up well before playing in Jimmy.
"After that I thought we kept our shape well and on the day we were too good for Leeds.
"It was my first win here, although I'm not really into all the history stuff about them.
"Of course I'm delighted but we only get three points for beating them.
"For me it's not about beating the mighty Leeds, it's all about getting three points and that's the way we work.
"I sometimes think people don't take us seriously and they've been saying this was a big game for Wigan.
"Well this was a big game for Leeds too because they were playing a team at the top of the league."
With just a 48-hour turn around, Jewell was anxiously checking on the fitness of two of his key players today ahead of the visit to the Britannia Stadium.
Nathan Ellington pulled up with a touch of cramp and had to be substituted yesterday while keeper John Filan went over on his ankle early in the game but soldiered on.
Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell feels Latics have what it takes to win promotion after seeing his side beaten at home for only the second time this season.
He said: "They are a better side than anything that has come up from this division in the last two years.
"Anyone who finishes above Wigan this season will win the Championship.
"They have the firepower up front to score goals, and even if the front two don't score, others will."
