Wigan's long wait for a win over Fulham goes on after goalless draw
Wigan set a new club record for the longest winless streak against a single club following a 0-0 draw at home to Fulham in the Sky Bet Championship.
The bore draw means Wigan have now gone 16 games without beating the London club.
The point also helped Fulham set a new longest ever unbeaten run against a single opponent in their league history.
The draw leaves promoted Wigan rooted in the relegation zone and without a victory in six matches.
It was a game neither side deserved to win with Wigan failing to hit the target until the 85th minute.
The visitors started brightest with Neeskens Kebano's fizzing effort bringing the best out of Adam Bogdan.
Will Grigg hit the side-netting on six minutes after a flowing home move, involving Jordi Gomez, opened up Fulham.
Michael Jacobs nearly broke free on 14 minutes but Gomez's majestic pass was cut out by a defender.
Jacobs flashed an effort just past the top corner on 22 minutes as the home side continued to look lively.
Dan Burn was inches away from connecting with two crosses on 29 minutes before Fulham eventually managed to scramble the ball away.
Gomez fired wide of David Button's post after the ball fell invitingly on 34 minutes.
Chris Martin wasted a good chance for Fulham two minutes later when he failed to direct a header after connecting with Jozabed's sublime cross.
Ragnar Sigurdsson saw his header blocked for the Londoners on 40 minutes after connecting with Denis Odoi's cross.
Max Power went close on 42 minutes after good link-up play with Jacobs created an opening.
Jacobs was on the other end of things a minute later when he fired Stephen Warnock's pass just wide on 43 minutes.
Martin nearly broke the deadlock for Fulham with an overhead kick after he was picked out by Kebano just after the hour mark.
Jacobs sent an ambitious effort from distance over the bar on 69 minutes as Wigan struggled to get shots on target.
Sub Adam Le Fondre went close after an excellent run forward by Nathan Byrne teed him up.
Yanic Wildschut and Jacobs were the latest Wigan players to fail to hit the target on 74 and 75 minutes respectively.
Sigurdsson produced an important block with 10 minutes to go as Fulham's defence held firm.
Jacobs was once again denied by Button in the dying stages as Wigan finally registered their first effort on goal with five minutes remaining.
Cauley Woodrow had a rare second-half shot for Fulham blocked as the London side looked happy to pick up a point.
Nick Powell nearly hit a winner for Wigan on the stroke of full-time when his effort was superbly tipped over by Button.
